I can’t believe we are almost at the finish line. This weeks post is going to be short and sweet as I don’t want to give away to many details before the reveal!
One detail of the room that I am super excited about our custom artwork by Samantha James Print Shop that is going above our mantle. Its simple but makes a bold but understated impact in the room.
This week the main focus has been designing / building the custom built ins around the fireplace. With the fireplace being the main feature of this wall but also taking advantage of the length of the wall and a desperate need for storage space (the joys of an old home) I came up with a concept and with the help of ikea it was my goal to make it a reality.
I didn’t want anything to take away from the fireplace so the standard dresser wasn’t going to work but also the standard cabinet depth available was to deep and would interfere with the fireplace. After searching and searching and then dreaming something up in my sleep I discovered the Ikea Ivar Cabinet. The height was perfect, the width was perfect, I could jazz it up with trim for a custom look so I hoped the idea would work…at this point I had no choice but to make it work because there was no plan b.
Three cabinets later, hardware and a little trim detail the idea was coming to life and it was better then imagined! Here’s a sneak peek but you will have to wait till next week for the full reveal.
